Inne Goris is a theatre maker. She graduated from the Maastricht Drama Academy in 1997 with the performance Niet in staat tot slechte dingen. After working at BRONKS as an educator and an assignment as dramaturge at Ultima Vez (Wim Vandekeybus), she founded her own company ZEVEN in 2001. Goris creates idiosyncratic performances bordering between visual art, theatre and dance. And has been for thirty years. Time for ZEVEN MAAL ZEVEN!

SEVEN TIMES SEVEN

30 years. We thought of looking back. But Inne prefers to look forward. We thought of a 'life time... thingy', but Inne doesn't like that. So we created a formula her way: from all those contexts in which she worked and from all those people who crossed her path, we selected seven guests who each get seven (!) minutes.

Together they present puzzle pieces from the Inne Goris universe, flitting and frayed by themes, inspirations, concerns and expectations of one of Flanders' most idiosyncratic creators.

Get carried away by music, a funny anecdote, a solid statement and a dash of film. And of course, during and after, we will raise a glass to so much beauty.

Our guests are:

  • Ruth Bruyneel (theme: WOMAN/MISUSE)
  • Jacob Schoolmeesters (theme: HOME)
  • Kiek Wieshaupt (theme: METHOD)
  • Gerhard Verfaillie (theme: THIS IS NOT A THEATER)
  • Thomas Smetryns & Thomas Moore (theme: MUSIC & THE SILENCE)
  • Pieter Delfosse & Sandra Andries (theme: MEE-MEAKING)
  • Ivana Noa (theme: SEVEN)

INNE GORIS

Under the wings of BRONKS, Goris premiered the children's performance Seven (2001). It was followed by Three Sisters (2003), free after Chekhov. The performance won the 1000 Watt prize, and Pride and Prejudice (2004) was also nominated for the award. Death and the Girl (2005), after Schubert's string quartet, was a visual and musical creation about loss, with a cast of six teenage girls.

With La petite fille qui aimait trop les allumettes (2006), based on Gaétan Soucy's novel, ZEVEN made its first performance for adults. Naar Medeia (2008) and Nachtevening (2009), both based on the Medea story, are also aimed at older audiences.

Since 2009, Inne has been making productions at LOD music theatre, including Nachtevening (2009), Judaspassie (2009), Wall (2010), Dreamtime (2011), Father, Mother, Me and Us (2011) and High Grass (2012) - the latter five all in collaboration with Dominique Pauwels.

The Manchester International Festival premiered Zigzag Zigzag in 2013, which was selected by the children's jury for the 2014 Theatre Festival. Snow (2014-2015) marked the first collaboration between Goris and LOD composer Thomas Smetryns. In 2016, she collaborated again with LOD composer Dominique Pauwels for Without Blood, based on Alessandro Baricco's novella. In 2017 and 2020, she revived the children's performance Droesem (from 2007-2008).

From 2017, hetpaleis also co-supports Inne's work. In 2018, the installation performance House premiered, a co-production by LOD and hetpaleis. For Ophelia in 2021, a co-production by LOD, hetpaleis and Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, Inne went in search of stories about first love. In 2022, Inne Goris premiered The Girl, the Hunter and the Wolf, a collaboration with composer Vasco Mendonça and writer Gonçalo M. Tavares in co-production with LOD and National Opera & Ballet.

In November 2023, Inne Goris presented the playful LOD production Hink Stap Spring with composer Thomas Smetryns and author Pieter Delfosse. It is a unique collaboration between children and adults, as young and old go all the way together: from the text to the music, from the technology to the photography. The result is a joint quest for growing up, being a child, being the boss and setting boundaries.
