Souvenirshop (4+)
A Mona Lisa hoodie? An umbrella with a Magritte apple? Socks featuring Monet’s water lilies? After every city trip, you eagerly expand your own mini-museum, piling up memories in and on your wardrobe.
Alexander Vantournhout dives into his own souvenir collection and conjures up a performance from it. Sweaters, trousers, and other garments are draped and transformed into a choreographic tale. Sleeve holes appear in unexpected places, pant legs morph into ball gowns, zippers open up new dimensions. What once hung motionless on a coat hanger now unfolds - through acrobatics, dance, and imagination - into a captivating tableau.
Dance, acrobatics, circus... Alexander Vantournhout’s work for adults refuses to be boxed into any single genre. In that sense, this performance is a grand tribute to unbridled playfulness and creativity. For the first time, Vantournhout is now creating something for young, wide-eyed viewers. Dancer Miguel do Vale transforms his creation into magic. Sarshar Ghozat performs live music during the performance.
In short: welcome to the museum of fantasy and magic!
about the company
After a long nomadic existence, BRONKS got its own theatre-house in the center of Brussels. (From) there, it creates a programme for a young audience, using humor and sharp wit as a common thread to reflect on the city and the world around it. Alongside Dutch, BRONKS speaks the languages of image and movement, and its programming reflects the city as a crossroads of cultures, identities, languages, and art forms.
