Willy, a bright red iguana, curiously hides in a mysterious black box. There he meets an amazing robot, with no less than eight arms that can move like an octopus.
At first Willy thinks the robot is just a little strange: its movements are brusque and its sounds peculiar. But when the robot begins to dance, its movements form a beautiful kaleidoscope. Slowly a friendship grows between Willy and the robot, as they become more and more attuned to each other. They melt together into a harmonious whole, with the robot making Willy dance enchantingly through the air.
With Willy, Ugo Dehaes combines the ancient tradition of puppet theater with the technology of the robots he learned to build in recent years, and now for the youngest among us!
about the company
Ugo Dehaes started dancing at the age of 18. After a year of intensive training, he began dance training at P.A.R.T.S. In 1998 he worked as a dancer with Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods and in 2000 he founded his own company kwaad bloed. Since then, Dehaes has regularly created new dance performances, both within the evening circuit and for (and with) young people and children. The inspiration for most of the performances lay in Dehaes' fascination with the human body and his interest in sciences. In 2018, his focus shifted to choreographing things, and for that Dehaes learned to build and program robots.
