Souvenirshop (4+)
A Mona Lisa hoodie? An umbrella with a Magritte apple? Socks featuring Monet’s water lilies? After every city trip, you eagerly expand your own mini-museum, piling up memories in and on your wardrobe.
Alexander Vantournhout dives into his own souvenir collection and conjures up a performance from it. Sweaters, trousers, and other garments are draped and transformed into a choreographic tale. Sleeve holes appear in unexpected places, pant legs morph into ball gowns, zippers open up new dimensions. What once hung motionless on a coat hanger now unfolds - through acrobatics, dance, and imagination - into a captivating tableau.
Dance, acrobatics, circus... Alexander Vantournhout’s work for adults refuses to be boxed into any single genre. Drawn to the boundless imagination of childhood, he fully embraces it in Souvenirshop. In that sense, this performance is a grand tribute to unbridled playfulness and creativity.
In short: welcome to the museum of fantasy and magic!
