An empty stage. Six dancers, women and men. Spread out across the space, divided into pairs. 
And then it all kicks off: from krumping, to coupé-décalé from Ivory Coast, ndombolo from Congo, or mbolé from Cameroon to urban dance. With virtuosity, the dancers rise to the challenge, searching for their identity as individuals and attempting to influence the movements of the others as a group. Because that is what Witch hunting is about: the confrontation or dialogue between the individual and the group.

The performance's original music, written especially for Witch hunting, utilizes percussion, prepared piano, and so-called krumping sounds to further enhance the spirit of the group experience.

Witch hunting is captivating, gripping, powerful, poetic - in short: a new masterpiece in the oeuvre of Anne Nguyen, the ‘grande dame’ of urban Afrodance.

about the company

French dancer, choreographer, and poet Anne Nguyen has her roots in hip-hop culture. She was a famous b-girl (breakdancer) in hundreds of battles and performed with hip-hop crews like Black Blanc Beur. She also appeared in choreographies by Faustin Linyekula and Salia Nï Seydou and was part of the groups RedMask (Montreal), Phase T, Def Dogz, and Créteil Style (Paris). As a b-girl, Nguyen has won numerous awards, both solo and in groups, in events like The International Breakdance Event (2004) and Battle of the Year (2005). She also mastered the martial arts of capoeira, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, viet vo dao, and wing chun. In 2005, she founded her own company, Compagnie par Terre, and that same year she made her breakthrough with the solo performance Square Root. She subsequently created nine productions, including Promenade obligatoire for eight pop musicians, the female quartet Autarcie, and bal.exe, a robot dance set to chamber music, performed by eight pop musicians and five classical musicians.
