BELGIAN PREMIERE

Bron is a dance performance in which generations come together to bear witness to vulnerability, imagination, and strength.

Set to live music by Thomas Devos, the dancers explore what connects them and what kind of future they want to shape together. With water playing a leading role. With a spring as a gathering place - where life flows, and sometimes overflows.

With Bron, Joke Laureyns and Kwint Manshoven return to the essence of their work. After as long as we are playing (CCHA, 2020), an ode to the playful human, and promise me (CCHA, 2022), which celebrated freedom and recklessness, Bron is an ode to the creative human: about the necessity of 'making,' about humanity as 'creator,' and about the question of the malleability of life.

The universe of kabinet k has always been intergenerational. Adult, professional dancers share the stage with young performers. This child’s gaze is not an excuse for naive innocence - on the contrary. At kabinet k, the child’s perspective offers forms of openness: uninhibitedness, spontaneity, self-reliance, and intuition.

In Bron, there is a yearning to cast off burdens, to return to something essential, to find home together.
Bron is a performance that moves, connects, and reminds us of the power of community.

about the company

Joke Laureyns and Kwint Manshoven are both choreographers, but their backgrounds are in philosophy and design respectively. In kabinet k, they focus on dance productions with both professional dancers and children on the stage. Their dance is based on actual everyday actions and minor gestures interwoven with elements of play.

Since 2016, the group has been engaged in structural collaboration with hetpaleis in Antwerp. Horses was the first production to emerge from this; in early 2018 kabinet k made invisible there. In 2019, they collaborate with composer Thomas Smetryns and hetpaleis for as long as we are playing, in 2021 followed by promise me.
